North Providence – Today, Rhode Island Council 94, AFSCME, AFL-CIO announced the appointment of Alexis Santoro as Executive Director, effective April 2019.
J. Michael Downey, President of RI Council 94, explained, “Last night the Rhode Island Council 94 Executive Board voted unanimously to appoint Deputy Executive Director Alexis Santoro as the new Executive Director of RI Council 94 effective April 2019. Deputy Director Santoro has been with Council 94 for just over 3 ½ years during which she has consistently demonstrated a keen legal mind along with excellent bargaining and administrative proficiency.”
Alexis Santoro, Esq. graduated from Goucher College in 1997 and Albany Law School of Union University in 2000. Alexis worked for the New York City Law Department, Office of the Corporation Counsel as an Assistant Corporation Counsel and later as Assistant Deputy Borough Chief. She later served as an Administrative Law Judge for the New York State Office of Temporary Disability and Assistance and Assistant General Counsel for the New York City Department of Correction. Alexis is currently admitted to practice law in in the states of New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, as well as the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, the District of Columbia, and the United States Supreme Court.
President Downey concluded, “Alexis has a zeal for protecting our members and we are very fortunate to have her as our new Executive Director.”
