Congratulations to the 2023 Winners of the Local 528 Scholarship Awards. I would like to thank the Local 528 Scholarship Committee for all the work they did on getting the scholarship funded and the awards handed out. Also, thank you to Brad Brown, the Scholarship Committee Chair, for all his work in helping organize and lead the committee throughout the process.

Local 528 recently had the honor of handing out $3,000 worth of scholarships to the children of Local 528 members in support of those who are attending Colleges and Universities in furtherance of their education.  Member names are in parentheses (Pictured to the right is Treasurer Brad Brown awarding Jillian Previte her scholarship).

Brothers & Sisters, At our March meeting, Local 528 asked for donations from the members that were in attendance. I am pleased to say that we were able to raise $158.00 that day for The Ronald McDonald House of Providence. Based on the Wish List posted on the Ronald McDonald House website, we were able to purchase 8 sets of full-sized sheets for the rooms of families that stay at the house to be close to their children while they are hospitalized or receiving treatments.  Pictured below is Local 528 member Robert Pennoyer who presented the sheet sets to the Ronald McDonald House with his…more…

In our efforts to make this year better for those who are struggling to make ends meet we are asking for help with some items that are high on the Fall/Winter need list at the Jonnycake Center. Your overwhelming support in the past has helped out so many and we truly can’t thank you enough for all your donations. For all members of the Local, at the Union meeting on November 9th, if you bring in a donation from the needs list, you will receive an extra ticket in the Turkey and Gift Card Raffle that is traditionally held for us each year.  Donations will also be gratefully accepted from any…more…

Since the very beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic the members of Local 528 RI Council 94 AFSCME have reported to work every day in support of the University of Rhode Islands’ mission.

These employees serve in critical support service roles which allow the University to house, feed and educate thousands of students each year. In the early spring of 2020 our country was thrust into the Covid-19 pandemic, and all the uncertainty associated with the early days of the pandemic.
